What to Expect During Session
The acupuncturist will clean your skin and prepare it with a numbing cream before using the microneedling pen and sterile stainless steel needle tip cartridge to penetrate layers of your skin.
This process promotes collagen production and cellular regeneration, and allows maximum absorption of our custom plant-based stem cell serums (selected based on skin type and needs).
The procedure is relatively painless and feels like a tiny vibration.
What to Expect After Session
Your practitioner will review the aftercare information with you and send you home with a vial of serum to apply for post-care.
Once the numbing cream wears off, your face may feel a little tender, tight, and/or mildly sunburned for approximately 8-12 hours. Keep skin moisturized, hydrated and comfortable with additional serum.
You may be blotchy and red for 1-2 days post treatment. Mild flaking of skin may occur around days 3-5. Sunscreen should be applied and exposure to the sun minimized. We ask that you do not use makeup nor any chemicals on your face for at least 24 hours post treatment.

Microneedling is the perfect example of where Traditional Chinese Medicine meets modern technology to harness our ability to produce collagen in specific areas of the body. Similar to acupuncture, your body will respond to the micro-traumas from our professional grade microneedling device by producing more collagen as part of natural wound healing.
Our microneedling device penetrates deeper than those found on the consumer market because your acupuncturist is licensed to use a professional device which causes deeper penetration than products available to consumers. You get faster results and have the combined benefit of Chinese herbal formulas and hyaluronic acid, which penetrate deeper into the skin for maximum benefit.
Microneedling is an effective treatment for reducing lines on the skin because of the collagen and elastin building effect, however, it does not rid your skin of lines like Botox will. Some people are not interested in injections and choose microneedling as the next best thing, and some people will combine the two treatments. Microneedling is about the quality of the skin. Without preventing muscle movement, it instead stimulates the muscles of the face releasing the tension that holds lines in place. It gives your skin a beautiful texture and glow that injections do not.
Both produce micro-injuries to the skin, which leads to the body’s natural healing process kicking in. However, microneedling delivers tiny, super-fast pin pricks to the skin; whereas, acupuncture relies on needles staying in the one spot for about 20 minutes. Microneedling treats the whole face; acupuncture treats the whole body.
Results will start to be noticeable after the first treatment. While improvement might be seen immediately afterwards, the most pronounced effects will occur 4-6 weeks after treatment. The ultimate goal of this procedure is to not only treat the pre-existing conditions like wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and scars but to penetrate below the surface before these issues occur.
It is recommended that you space out microneedling treatments to every 4 weeks. For optimal results, a series of 4-8 treatments is recommended with touch up procedures bi-annually
Each person’s body is different. After an initial series results may last from 6 months to a year. Touch-up procedures can be done annually or semi-annually to maintain results.
Since most microneedling done in our clinics is at a depth of 0.25-0.5 mm, discomfort is minimal. Some areas such as the forehead, nose, and upper lip can be more sensitive. Lidocaine numbing cream is used before treatment to minimize discomfort.
At a depth of 0.25-0.5 mm, it is unlikely that this microneedling treatment will cause bleeding. On spot treatments (deeper wrinkles, age spots, etc), deeper needling is used and there is a chance that a small amount of blood might come to the surface.
